Grooming Gangs: Fiona’s Story

Fiona Goddard, a grooming gang survivor and campaigner who has waived her anonymity, sits down on camera for the first time to tell her story. Guided by journalist Julie Bindel, this series explores her experiences of Bradford grooming gangs.

Fiona describes her family life and childhood in Bradford, how initial contact was made by groomers when she was just 14, and how this escalated – with the very institutions that were meant to protect her as a vulnerable young girl turning a blind eye.

Through Fiona's story, we see in personal, human detail what the wider systemic failures looked like across Britain – the same patterns of institutional neglect and wilful blindness that enabled child sexual exploitation in Rotherham, Rochdale, Telford, Oxford, and countless other towns and cities. Her testimony reveals how police, social services, and local authorities repeatedly failed to act despite clear evidence of abuse, choosing to protect their reputations over vulnerable children.

Presented by Julie Bindel and produced by Advent Media in collaboration with Open Justice UK.
