Open Justice UK is an organisation dedicated to transparency, accountability, and reform of the justice system. It was founded after a crowdfunding campaign to acquire court transcripts from grooming gang trials, following the discovery that victims were being quoted thousands of pounds to access records of their own cases. It was the first organisation to privately request and publish court transcripts en masse, and published the first ever full court transcript in the UK. Since then, it has requested and published dozens of sentencing remarks from grooming gang trials, challenged judicial decisions to withhold information from the public, and undertaken original research into cases and systemic failures that have never before been subject to proper public scrutiny.
